Battle of the Bands: The Kingston Trio versus the Dropkick Murphys and Rancid

I was surfing Youtube and discovered this video of the Dropkick Murphys and Rancid performing Skinhead on the MBTA in Hamilton in 2003.

Compare this to the Kingston Trio in the early 60s.

The original song is about this guy in Boston who gets on the subway, pays 10 cents but was supposed to have paid 15 cents, and is not allowed to exit because he does not have the extra nickel.

I think the Dropkick Murphys version is about something different but like a lot of songs these days, it's a little difficult to understand the lyrics.

I like both the Dropkick Murphys and Rancid, and this is an awesome cover, but I think the Kingston Trio version is a bit better.
